A solo exhibition at the Tim Faulkner Gallery during March, 2017.
“Oculi” (the plural of oculus, eye in Latin) are eyelike windows/openings in architecture. The constant in this series are layers of oculi: antique oval frames used to focus on the subject’s eyes which look directly at the viewer, seeming to return your gaze. It is my hope to make the viewer aware of the experience of viewing art by feeling watched/viewed themselves . . . as several of the pieces are tightly cropped mainly on the eyes. As a collective whole, the effect is somewhat like being judged.
